外国语学院大学英语教学部成立于1996年，主要承担全校大学英语、研究生英语和留学生英语教学工作。现有专职教师35人，其中副教授9人，讲师26人，95%以上的老师具有出国研修经历。大学英语教学部拥有一支经验丰富、充满活力的教学团队。近年来共获批各级各类科研项目30余项，其中省部级项目5项；在核心期刊和国际期刊发表学术论文多篇，编写教材多部。

大学英语教学部从2009年开始开展了一系列教学改革。例如以学生需求为导向的分级分类教学，利用互联网资源的混合式教学等。并积极探索提高学生语言应用能力的新型课堂教学方法。学校大学英语四级通过率稳定保持在80%以上。大学英语拓展课程《中西方文化交流》获批国家一流课程、《商务英语口译》获批校级一流课程，大学英语基础课程《大学英语》也已经建设成为校级重点课程和江苏省优秀课程。同时，大学英语教学部教师曾多次指导学生参加国家级、省级英语技能竞赛并获得优异成绩，丰富了学生的第二课堂，提高了学生的英语学习兴趣。

College English Department of School of Foreign Studies, founded in 1996, offers English courses for non-English majors and international students. It has a total of 35 full-time teachers, including 9 associate professors and 26 lecturers. It has a highly-skilled, trained and professional teaching team. More than 95% of the teachers have overseas research background in world famous higher educational institutions. In recent years, our faculty have undertaken and completed over 30 research projects, granted by different levels of authority. Among them, 5 are of ministerial and provincial levels. Our teachers have published a number of textbooks and research papers in various national and international journals of repute.

Since 2009, a series of reforms aimed at improving college English teaching have been complemented, including student-oriented classified teaching, Internet-based blended teaching and other reforms under the application-oriented talent training mode needs. The department offers courses through a level-based system ranging from Beginners to Advanced, including National First-Class Undergraduate Course English-Chinese Cultural Communication, CCZU First-Class Undergraduate Course Business English Interpreting and CCZU Key Course and Jiangsu Province Excellent Course College English. All these reforms help to create productive and inspiring learning environment for students to drive forward. The pass rate of CET-4 has remained over 80% for years. Annually many students win prizes in national and provincial English contests.
